the bridport stable story
cider-loving pizza makers
Bridport is our mothership, our home base, and the birthplace of The Stable. Back in 2009, a ramshackle shed behind The Bull Hotel was restored and converted into a cider bar. A little while later, someone had the bright idea to serve handmade pizzas to soak up the effects of the funky local brews, and The Stable was born. Once an actual stable, we've kept it real rural, with barn board and original features. You'll find a huge selection of cider and our signature pizzas, salads and pies on offer.
The Hay Loft upstairs makes the perfect party and live music venue, and now more than ten years later, it remains a local hot spot. There's plenty of parking right outside too, if you're coming by car.
We are Dorset Mind; a pioneering local charity that has been supporting local people with mental health challenges since 1946. We educate, challenge mental health stigma and inequality, and promote recovery by empowering individuals to develop resilience. Our support groups, counselling and accredited befriending service help people regain social skills. We also deliver educational wellbeing programmes for schools and workplaces and provide volunteer opportunities across all areas of our organisation.
Proudly partnered for over two years, The Stable and MIND, the mental health charity, are making a difference in our community. We’ve paired with our local branch to ensure that the impact to projects and campaigns is felt by our immediate neighbours.
The Stable’s partnership with Dorset Mind has been a fundamental part of the bars’ identity since joining forces over three years ago. The real difference the charity makes in the local community is something that The Stable truly believes in. Stablehands have run marathons, organised craft fairs, made Christmas decorations, dressed up and given their time to events and drives. Customers are given an option to donate via the card payment system, with proceeds going to Dorset Mind and their projects.
